Is it a fireplace, an insert or a gas log set?

That distinction is a useful starting point when you contact us about a Napoleon appliance. Napoleon sells built-in gas fireplaces, inserts intended for an existing fireplace opening, and gas log sets. They may look similar in a photo, but the installation and model-specific instructions are different.

Efficient Fireplace Services handles gas fireplace service and repair requests across the Lower Mainland from our Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows base.

Call or text 778-697-1807 with your city, the symptom and a picture showing the full unit. If you know the exact model, include it. Email Mapleridgefireplace@gmail.com to send photos and details. A photograph alone is a starting point, not a remote diagnosis.

The series name is only the first clue

Napoleon’s gas fireplace range includes traditional and linear series such as Ascent and Elevation, while its gas insert range is listed separately. A series name or the size shown in a catalogue does not necessarily identify the exact installed model, fuel configuration or control package.

The product page and the unit’s manual can contain model-specific operation and accessory information. We use the appliance’s actual label and applicable documentation when assessing a repair or replacement component.

Do not dismantle the unit to search for a label. Tell us what is visible and we can advise what information would be useful for the appointment.

A control issue deserves a careful assessment

Some newer Napoleon gas fireplaces offer electronic ignition, remote operation or optional connected controls, while other units use different arrangements. If the display responds but the burner does not, or the fireplace lights and then stops, describe exactly what you observe.

We check the installed control arrangement before drawing conclusions. A remote, wall switch, ignition system and gas supply cannot be diagnosed by the brand name alone.

If you smell gas, leave the area and contact your gas utility or emergency services from a safe location. Do not attempt to operate or repair the appliance. For ordinary operating concerns, use the normal controls only and leave gas-component work to a qualified technician.

What maintenance and repair can involve

During service, we can clean the glass, firebox, burner and logs as appropriate to the appliance; inspect ignition and flame quality, gas connections and possible leaks, venting and fitted fan or controls; and test operation and safety systems. The exact sequence depends on the model, manual and condition.

See the gas fireplace service page for the broader maintenance scope.

For a fault, we identify the specific appliance, listen to the symptom, test the relevant system and explain the proposed work. Compatible parts and their availability must be checked for the exact model; we cannot promise that every older unit can be repaired. Our repair page explains the diagnostic approach, while fireplace parts and components describes common categories we assess.

Thinking about a new appliance?

Replacing a Napoleon gas fireplace or installing an insert requires a site review of the opening, venting, clearances, gas, electrical needs and finishing. A catalogue image cannot establish fit or availability. We compare the existing unit’s repair prospects with a feasible new installation before a model or scope is proposed.

Napoleon product listings and accessories do not establish what will fit your opening or what is currently available to us. If replacement is under consideration, start with our gas fireplace installation overview and arrange a site review before choosing a model.

Questions from Napoleon owners

Napoleon owners ask whether a gas log set is within our fireplace scope, whether a remote proves a failed control and when replacement is sensible. We first identify the appliance, model and symptom. These answers separate information a customer can safely provide from checks that require an in-person assessment.

Can you tell which Napoleon model I have from a photo?

A full-unit photo may narrow the category and series. The model and serial information, if safely visible, is more reliable for selecting the correct manual and checking compatible parts. Do not remove sealed glass or open gas fittings to find it.

Do you service gas inserts as well as built-in units?

We accept service and repair requests for gas fireplaces and gas inserts. We assess the appliance and its installation before defining the work. A gas log set should likewise be identified clearly before we discuss the request.

Does an electronic-ignition fault always mean a new control board?

No. The symptom alone does not establish which part, if any, has failed. Testing must follow the actual model and control system. See our fireplace FAQ for related questions.
