Know what is happening inside your fireplace.

A fireplace can appear to work while dust builds up, the glass darkens or the flame changes. If yours has sat unused, has not been serviced recently or simply needs a careful check, we can clean and inspect the components in our approved service checklist.

Service and maintenance are the same appointment category here: a planned visit focused on cleaning, inspection and operational checks. A fault that needs diagnosis or a new component may require separate repair work, which we discuss with you before proceeding.

The approved service checklist

What we do during a gas fireplace service

A service visit follows the fireplace’s design, instructions and condition. Appropriate work can include cleaning accessible glass, firebox, burner, checking ignition and flame, reviewing venting, controls and gas connections, and testing operation. If we find a fault that needs diagnosis or repair, we explain the separate recommendation before proceeding.

  • Clean the glass, firebox, burner and logs.
  • Inspect the pilot, thermocouple and thermopile.
  • Check ignition and flame quality.
  • Check gas connections and for gas leaks.
  • Inspect venting.
  • Check the fan, remote and thermostat.
  • Test operation and safety systems.
What the checklist does not promise: A scheduled service does not guarantee that an existing fault can be repaired during the same visit, that a discontinued part is available, or that every unit needs identical work. We explain any recommended repair or replacement after evaluating the particular fireplace.
Why arrange a visit?

When service is worth considering

A professional inspection and service annually is a sensible starting point for a gas fireplace, subject to its manufacturer’s instructions. Arrange a check when the unit has sat unused, the glass darkens, the flame changes or a control behaves differently. A fault may require diagnosis rather than routine maintenance alone.

01

It has been a while

You cannot remember the last service, or you want the fireplace checked before you depend on it again.

02

Glass or logs look dirty

Deposits or darkened glass are a reason to have the unit assessed and cleaned appropriately; appearance alone does not identify the cause.

03

You want a clear account

You would like to know what was cleaned, what was inspected and whether any separate work was recommended.

Service or repair? If the fireplace will not light, shuts off unexpectedly, has an unusual odour or behaves unpredictably, tell us before booking so we can discuss a diagnostic repair visit. If you smell gas or suspect an immediate hazard, stop using the appliance and follow your gas utility's emergency directions.

What to expect

A straightforward visit, from first message to final check

Tell us the city, brand or model if known, and whether this is routine maintenance or a specific problem. If you're contacting us for a strata property or managed unit, include any access or scheduling information. We confirm availability for your job.

At the appointment, the technician works through the relevant cleaning and inspection items, checks operation, and discusses findings. If a repair, part or replacement assessment is needed, we explain the proposed next step rather than treating it as automatically included in routine maintenance.

One clear purpose per service

Which fireplace service do you need?

Choose routine service when the fireplace operates but needs cleaning, inspection and an operational check. If it will not light, shuts off or responds unpredictably, describe that fault so we can discuss a diagnostic visit. Installation or replacement involves a separate site assessment. The pages below explain each scope.

Frequently asked questions

Before you book

The make and model, a photo of the complete fireplace and a short description of its current behaviour help us prepare for the first conversation. For a strata or managed property, include access requirements. Please leave sealed glass, gas fittings and internal controls untouched when locating model details.

What is included in a gas fireplace service?

Cleaning the glass, firebox, burner and logs; inspecting the pilot, thermocouple and thermopile; checking ignition, flame quality, gas connections and for leaks, venting, fan, remote and thermostat; and testing operation and safety systems. The specific work depends on the fireplace's design and condition.

How often should my gas fireplace be serviced?

Annual servicing is a common safety and maintenance recommendation for gas appliances in BC. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for your model and discuss its condition and use with the technician.

Can a service visit also fix a fireplace that will not light?

A fireplace that is not working properly may need a diagnostic repair visit. Some findings may be addressed during a visit, but a repair, replacement part or additional appointment cannot be guaranteed before assessment. Tell us the symptom when you contact us.

Do you work on different brands?

Yes, we accept service work across gas fireplace brands. We have practical experience and training with Montigo, Heat & Glo, Valor and Kingsman. Parts availability varies by model and age.

Do you service strata or property-managed units?

Yes. We work with strata corporations and property-management companies. Include the property location and any access requirements when arranging a visit.

Is there a warranty on completed service work?

A one-year workmanship warranty applies to completed service work. Parts and equipment warranties are subject to the applicable manufacturer's terms.

What should I clarify about a maintenance quote?

Confirm which cleaning, inspection and operating checks are included for your fireplace and tell us about any fault before booking. Ask how a separate diagnostic recommendation or replacement part would be handled. Routine maintenance and repair are different scopes; a service price should not be assumed to include every possible repair.
