New fireplace or replacement?

A new fireplace starts with location, appliance choice, gas supply, venting and the surrounding construction. Replacing an existing unit also requires us to assess the current opening and connections, the old appliance and what can safely remain. We review the site before confirming scope, permit needs, schedule or price.

01

Installing a new gas fireplace

We review the proposed location, fireplace choice and how gas, venting, electrical connections and finishing may fit together. The final work plan depends on the property and the selected unit.

02

Replacing an existing fireplace

We assess the older unit and opening, then discuss removal, compatibility, connections, venting and finishing needs. A replacement is not automatically a direct swap; the site review determines the practical path.

What the site assessment helps settle

A site review connects the fireplace you want with the space you have. We look at placement, the existing opening if any, gas and vent routes, electrical needs, access and the finish around the unit. Those findings determine which work belongs in the proposed scope and which questions need confirmation.

We then explain the proposed work, what needs separate coordination and what can only be confirmed once the model and property are reviewed.

One project, several moving parts

A fireplace installation may involve the appliance, gas connection, venting, fireplace-related electrical work, removal of an old unit, permits and surrounding finishes. The exact combination depends on the site and selected model. We describe what is included in your project and what another trade or approval may need to handle.

From first contact to handover

A clear installation process

We begin by learning whether this is a new fireplace or a replacement and reviewing the site and proposed model. After discussing the work, permits and any access constraints, we define an appropriate scope. Installation, testing and handover follow the agreed plan, with changes explained before extra work proceeds.

STEP 01

Tell us about the project

Send your city, a few photos of the area, and whether you are installing new or replacing a unit. Share a model if one has been selected.

STEP 02

Review the site

We assess the existing setup and the work that may be needed for the appliance, connections, venting, access and finish.

STEP 03

Agree on the scope

We explain the plan, project boundaries, permit needs when applicable and next steps before work proceeds.

STEP 04

Install and commission

The agreed work is completed, followed by final startup and commissioning for the installed fireplace.

Scheduling and total project time depend on the unit, site conditions, parts and agreed scope. We confirm availability for your project individually.

A practical decision

Repair or replace the existing fireplace?

A malfunction does not automatically mean the fireplace needs replacing. Diagnosis can reveal whether a practical repair is available for the installed model. We weigh condition, safety, parts availability and the work a new installation would require. Our parts guidance explains why an exact model match matters before either decision.

Experience with the unit matters

Practical experience with Montigo, Heat & Glo, Valor and Kingsman helps us ask questions about the unit and controls, but it is not manufacturer authorization. A model may need different installation instructions, components or support. Tell us the make and model you are considering so we can review the documentation.

Completed installation workmanship carries a one-year warranty. The fireplace and parts follow the relevant manufacturer warranty terms. We can also discuss ongoing service and maintenance after the new unit is in use.

Common questions

Before you plan the installation

Collect photos of the existing fireplace or proposed location, the model information if accessible and your preferred outcome. If a strata or property manager is involved, identify access and approval requirements. We can discuss site review, permits and scope without promising a model fit or completion date from photos alone.

Can you replace my current gas fireplace?

Replacement is part of our installation scope. We first assess the existing unit, opening and site requirements, then discuss what a suitable replacement would involve.

Do I need a permit?

Permit requirements depend on the particular property and work. We review the project and clarify required permits and responsibilities before the installation scope is finalized.

Do you handle gas, venting and finishing?

The scope can include gas-line connection or alteration, venting, fireplace-related electrical connections, framing and finishing. The work actually included in your project is confirmed after site review.

Can you remove the old unit?

Yes, removal or disposal of the existing unit can be part of a replacement project. We confirm the details in the agreed scope.

How much does installation cost, and how long will it take?

Both depend on the selected fireplace, removal, gas and venting work, electrical needs, surrounding finishes and required approvals. Compare estimates by the full scope, not the appliance price alone. Clarify equipment supply, permit responsibilities, disposal, finish restoration and any exclusions before agreeing to a schedule. Send photos and model details to discuss the site review.

What warranty applies?

Completed installation work has a one-year workmanship warranty. Equipment and parts are subject to their applicable manufacturer warranty terms.

Do you work with strata or property managers?

Yes. Tell us about access, scheduling and any building coordination requirements when you contact us. We will discuss the project and availability.

Plan the next step

Tell us about the fireplace you want to install.

Call, text or email your city, photos of the space and the make and model if known. Tell us whether this is a new installation or a replacement and whether strata access is involved. We will discuss a site assessment and confirm the next step for your project.
